Founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, right in the very heart of Napa Valley, Opus One represents a dream shared between this impassioned duo, who decided to conquer this Californian soil, and to share their know-how with one another. Using both traditional and modern techniques in order to create an exceptional wine. Using the Oakwille name, Opus One attained its first vintage in 1979 and became an estate in 1991. The vine roots cover 68 hectares (169 acres) and are grown in the pure tradition of Bordeaux wines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, find their richness and strength in unique soil, vestige of the volcanic past of the region, offering a fine and elegant wine. Thirty years after the co-founders’ dream was born, the Opus One estate has attempted to pass on the passion which inspired them, through a wine of incomparable quality. A philosophy shared by Mähler-Besse, which has been selling this wine for over a decade.
