Associated with Bordeaux’s Great Growth wines since 1892, Mähler-Besse developed an early interest in premium quality whiskies. In 1976, Mähler-Besse became the exclusive French distributor for Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt Whisky, a veritable “Scotch Grand Cru Classé”. Building on the success of this superb single malt, Mähler-Besse decided to launch its own range of Scotch whiskies a few years later under the Mason’s brand. Mähler-Besse selected the whiskies from John Grant, the owner of Glenfarclas, which were then marketed under its own brand name.
Mason’s thus benefits from the distillation expertise of the Grant family, who have owned Glenfarclas for six generations. Mason’s draws its authentic flavour from these deep Highland roots. The Mason’s range consists of a Blended Whisky and an eight-year-old Blended Malt Whisky. Mähler-Besse distributes Mason’s exclusively to a traditional clientele of fine wines and spirits merchants, and fancy food shops.
