Iconic estates at the heart of
the finest terroirs
◊ The history of Mähler-Besse is based on a passion for wine and, more precisely, for the Bordeaux region. In 1938, Frédérik Mähler-Besse made his first foray into viticulture by becoming co-owner of Château Palmer, 3rd Grand Cru Classé. The same year, he bought Château Cheval Noir Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and was fervently involved in the creation of ever more exceptional vineyards. This was followed by the acquisition of several estates such as La Couronne Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Alfa La Bernade Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux and Picard Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois.
Through its properties, Mähler-Besse expresses its attachment to the great terroirs of the Bordeaux vineyards and its desire to reveal all their richness.
Château Cheval Noir and Château La Couronne, located in Saint-Emilion, embodies the elegance and refinement of wines from the Right Bank. Château Picard, in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, expresses the power and depth typical of the Médoc, recognized by its Cru Bourgeois certification. Château Alfa La Bernarde in Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, completes the collection with wines of character, faithful to their origin. Each property is the subject of rigorous attention, from the vineyard to the cellar, in order to best express the identity of its soil and to guarantee irreproachable quality, vintage after vintage.
