Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Born on an exceptional land a few steps from Château Angélus, the Le Fer cuvée from Château Cheval Noir embodies the elegance and depth of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.

Made from old Merlot vines planted on siliceous soils based on ferric filth, it expresses the uniqueness of a soil rich in iron that gives the wine finesse and complexity.

Vinified with care under the advice of Hubert de Boüard, this cuvée seduces with its intense garnet color, its bouquet of red fruits with woody and spicy notes and its silky mouth with elegant and perfectly integrated tannins. Both powerful and refined, Le Fer is both powerful and refined. Le Fer is an excellent companion for simmered or roasted red meats and offers good aging potential for around ten years.

Cheval Noir

Born from the strength of the black horses of the 19th century, Cheval Noir has become over time one of the most emblematic domains of Saint-Emilion

A name that refers to the powerful black horses used in the 19th century for harvesting, and which became a brand in 1895, the oldest in Bordeaux. The Château Cheval Noir is one of the oldest in Saint-Emilion. Acquired in 1937, Château Cheval Noir was the first property of the Mähler-Besse Family. Located a few miles from the most beautiful properties in Saint-Emilion, Château Cheval Noir benefits from valuable advice for designing exceptional wines. For several years, Hubert de Boüard, oenologist and co-owner of Château Angélus, Premier Grand Cru Classé, neighbor of Cheval Noir, has been bringing his knowledge and expertise to the development and vinification of Cheval Noir wines.
